Cardinals 3, Cubs 2 (38-28)
A huge crowd of 37,000 fans came out to see the Cardinals play against their archrivals, the Chicago Cubs. Grover Alexander, who had recently been cut by the Cubs and then picked up by the Cardinals, got some revenge on his former team. He threw ten innings and gave up only two runs on four hits.
Billy Southworth hit a solo homerun and later scored another run. Jim Bottomley and Tommy Thevenow had two hits while Les Bell went two for four with a run.
