Cubs 7, Cardinals 5 (26-17)
The Cardinals and Cubs evened up their series at a win a piece as Bob Gibson didn’t bring his A game in his fifth loss of the season. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in just 4 1/3 innings.
Lou Brock was one of the hitting stars in the loss. He went two for five with a solo homerun and two runs. Roger Maris went two for four with a triple, two runs and an RBI while Tim McCarver doubled twice and drove in two runs. Most of the Cardinals offense didn’t come until the ninth inning when the Cardinals scored three of their five runs.
