Cardinals 9, Cubs 2 (62-40)
Lou Brock only had one hit but he still managed to play a part in five of the Cardinals nine runs in their fifth straight win. His one hit was a three run homer and he finished the game with four RBIs and two runs. Orlando Cepeda homered and drove in three while Curt Flood finished the game with four hits.
Ray Washburn picked up the win and he improved to 7-4 on the season. He gave up two runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. Hal Woodeshick closed the game out and held the Cubs scoreless in the final 1 2/3 innings and he picked up his second save of the season.
