While the score was ugly enough, this one could have been even worse because the Giants tagged Cardinals pitching for nineteen hits with Willie Mays going deep twice for the Giants.  Dick Hughe was hit hard and he dropped to 7-3 on the season.  He gave up six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

Curt Flood went two for four with a double and he drove in the only run for the Cardinals.  Julian Javier singled twice in the loss.
