Cardinals Blown Out by Phillies In Game One of NLDS

by @ 4:32 pm. Filed under 2011 Cardinals

Things started off well.  The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning but then in the sixth inning, the wheels fell of the wagon when the Phillies scored five runs in the sixth.  The Cardinals scored three in the ninth but by then, the game was way out of reach.

Kyle Lohse was pummelled for six runs in 5 1/3 innings.  Marc Rzepczynski was tagged for three runs and Mitchell Boggs gave up two runs.  Ugly, ugly pitching performances and you hope they can bounce back from this one.

Lance Berkman put the Cardinals on the board with a three run home run in the first inning.  Skip Schumaker also had a nice game and he went two for four with two RBIs.

Game two is tomorrow.  It’ll be Chris Carpenter going up against Cliff Lee in this one.
