This was the opposite of game one. The Phillies jumped out to a 4-0 lead early but the Cardinals stuck with it and got back into the game. By the seventh inning, the Cardinals had the lead and so goes the tie series.
Chris Carpenter was tagged for four runs in three innings. From there, the pen took over and did an awesome job. Fernando Sala pitched two shutout frames and Jason Motte pitched 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief to close the game out.
The Cardinals put three runs on the board in the fourth and then Jay singled home a run in the sixth to tie the game up. Finally, Albert Pujols singled home Craig for the game winner.
Now the scene moves to St. Louis. It’ll be Jaime Garcia going up against Cole Hamels.
