Cardinals 5, Phillies 1 (95-56)
The Cardinals made it four straight wins behind a solid outing by Bob Gibson and this one was a big one because it clinched the National League pennant and a trip to the World Series for the Cardinals. Gibson improved to 13-6 and he gave up one run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in the complete game win.
Lou Brock pretty much did it all in the win. He went two for five with a double, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs. And when he wasn’t getting on base, he was striking out and he finished with three in the game. Dal Maxvill went two for four with a run in the win.
