Steve Carlton struck out eleven in an impressive start as the Cardinals picked up their seventh straight win.  He improved to 11-6 and he gave up three runs on six hits and four walks in the complete game win.

Mike Shannon and Julian Javier both homered and drove in two runs in the win.  Curt Flood went two for three with a walk, a run and an RBI.
