Cardinals 8, Cubs 7 (37-28)
The Cardinals moved into second place in the National League after they edged the Cubs by a single run. The Cardinals overcame a 6-2 deficit when they scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Three of those runs came on Rogers Hornsby’s three run homerun.
Ray Blades scored three runs in the leadoff spot, despite getting only one hit. Bill Hallahan picked up the win, but that was more circumstances then anything. In all, the Cardinals used four pitchers that gave up seven runs on fourteen hits.
