Cardinals Edge Reds in Twelve Innings

Cardinals 3, Reds 2  (53-37)

Bobby Tolan drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the twelth to give the Cardinals their winning run in a tight game with the Reds.  The Cardinals needed two runs in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game up.  Roger Maris went two for six with two RBIs and Mike Shannon singled twice and scored a run.

Ron Willis improved to 2-3 on the season with four shutout innings of relief.  Jack Lamabe pitchd a shutout twelth and he picked up his second save of the season.
