Well, the Cardinals lived to fight another day and they took care of the Phillies to force a winner take all game five in a couple of days in the NLDS. The Phillies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and the Cards cut that in half with a run in the bottom of the first. The Cardinals then took the lead in the fourth with two runs and they added two more in the sixth.
Edwin Jackson gave up two runs in six innings then Tony LaRussa went to the pen. Five relivers held the Phillies to a single run and one of those was Jason Motte, who pitched a shutout ninth for his second save.
David Freese was awesome in this one. He went two for three with a home run and four RBIs. Skip Schumaker went two for three with a run.
Game five will see Chris Carpenter going up against Roy Halladay. This one is going to be a classic.
