Cardinals 8, Reds 5 (21-19)
The Cardinals finished their sweep of the Reds and in the process, won for the ninth time in eleven games. Once again they needed a seven run eighth inning to pick up the win. The Reds led most of the game until that big inning. Bob O’Farrell and Heinie Mueller both went deep for the Cardinals.
Flint Rhem started but didn’t get the decision. Eddie Dyer picked up the win after he pitched two no hit innings to close out the game.
This series finale ended a 21 game homestand by the Cardinals. Next up was a nearly three week road trip and their first stop was in Cincinnati to face the Reds again.
