The Cardinals headed into their World Series showdown with the Boston Red Sox with a three game winning streak after a solid start by Nelson Briles. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in eight innings. Jack Lamabe pitched a shutout ninth and he earned his fifth save of the season.
Curt Flood went three for three with a double, two RBIs and a run. Roger Maris tripled and he drove in three runs.
