Cardinals 8, Braves 5 (15-17)
The Cardinals finished their sweep of the Boston Braves, although this was the closest game of the series. The Cardinals jumped out to an 8-0 but the Braves scared the home town crowd by scoring two in the seventh and three in the eighth to make things close.
Bill Sherdel picked up the win even after the late inning collapse. He gave up five runs on eleven hits and three walks with one strikeout.
All eight runs were scored by eight different Cardinals. Ironically, the only player who didn’t score was the leadoff man, Ray Blades. Heinie Mueller and Jim Bottomley both went deep while Taylor Douthit and Mueller each had three hits.
