Cubs 3, Cardinals 1  (56-40)

The Cardinals picked up just one run as they lost in their series opener against the Cubs.  Orlando Cepeda doubled home Lou Brock in the sixth inning and Brock was the only Cardinal hitter with more then one hit.

Larry Jaster fell to 6-5 on the season with a rough second inning.  In his start, he was picked apart for two runs in the second inning and he didn’t even last through the frame.
