Cardinals Lose In the Ninth, Five Game Winning Streak Ends

by @ 1:34 pm. Filed under 1967 Cardinals, 1967 Cardinals Diary - August

August 7, 1967 at Busch Stadium
Dodgers 6, Cardinals 4  (67-42)

The Cardinals five game winning streak came to an end behind a rough outing by Joe Hoerner, who gave up three runs in the top of the ninth inning in a tough loss.  To his credit, two of the runs were unearned because of errors by Curt Flood and Phil Gagliano.  A decent start by Steve Carlton went to waste and he gave up three runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in seven innings.

Mike Shannon went three for five with a double and two RBIs.  Orlando Cepeda went two for five with an RBI and two runs.
