Dodgers 2, Cardinals 1 (79-49)
Ray Washburn was good enough in a great start against future Hall of Famer Don Drysdale but with the game going twelve innings, the pen eventually became a factor. It was Hal Woodeshick who left the winning run in the bottom of the twelth and he fell to 2-1 on the season. Ron Willis didn’t take the loss, but he allowed the inherited runner to score.
The Cardinals had their share of chances as they stranded fifteen in the loss. Tim McCarver went three for six with a double and he drove in the only Cardinals run of the game.
