Cardinals Offense Held in Check In Second Straight Loss to the Reds

by @ 5:10 pm. Filed under 1967 Cardinals, 1967 Cardinals Diary - July

July 5, 1967 at Busch Stadium
Reds 2, Cardinals 1  (46-31)

The Cardinals got a few more hits (9) then they did yesterday but seven of the team’s nine hits were by two hitters and nobody else could produce.  Orlando Cepeda went four for five and he scored the lone Cardinals run while Tim McCarver went three for four with an RBI.

Nelson Briles took the loss because he gave up the tenth inning run.  A very nice start by Jim Cosman went to waste.  He gave up one run on six hits and three walks with one strikeout in eight innings.
