Cardinals Shave Magic Number Down to Three Behind Solid Start By Ray Washburn

The Cardinals won their second straight game over the Reds behind a solid outing by Ray Washburn, who improved to 10-7.  He gave up just a single run on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in the complete game win.

Dal Maxvill doubled and he drove in two runs in the win. Curt Flood had a team high three hits and Julian Javier went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
