Mets 4, Cardinals 2 (80-50)
Steve Carlton fell to 11-8 on the season in a rough start in the Cardinals loss in the first game of their doubleheader. He gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts in four innings of work.
Lou Brock went three for five with an RBI in the loss. Tim McCarver singled and drove in a run.

Cardinals 6, Mets 0 (81-50)
The Cardinals salvaged a split in their doubleheader with the Mets behind a nice outing by Jack Lamabe. He improved to 3-6 and he gave up just six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in the complete game shutout.
Tim McCarver went two for four with a homerun, two runs and two RBIs in the win. Curt Flood singled three times and he scored once.
