July 23, 1967 at Busch Stadium
Cardinals 3, Braves 1 (55-39)
Julian Javier’s two run homer in the fifth inning was the difference in the Cardinals win in their first game of a doubleheader with the Braves. Orlando Cepeda was the only Cardinal with two hits and he scored a run.
Steve Carlton improved to 8-6 on the season with a nice start. He gave up one run on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings. Ron Willis got the final four batters out and he picked up his fifth save of the season.

Cardinals 8, Braves 3 (56-39)
The Cardinals turned on the offense as they finished up a sweep in their doubleheader over the Braves. Mike Shannon and Phil Gagliano both went yard in the win while Roger Maris doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored.
Hal Woodeshick picked up the win and he improved to 2-0 on the season. He gave up one run on three hits in 4 2/3 innings. Ron Willis picked up his sixth save of the season with two shutout innings.
