News, Notes and Historical Information on the St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals did it again. They needed all seven World Series games but they pulled a historic comeback in game six and then took care of business in game seven to win another World Series. Chris Carpenter pitched on short rest again but this time he came up with a gutty performance to help push the Cardinals through six innings. He got off to a rough start and gave up two runs in the first but that was all the Cardinals got. Four relievers then combined to hold the Rangers scoreless in the final four frames.
David Freese drove in two runs to tie the game with a double and he ended up being the World Series MVP. Yadier Molina drove in two runs and Allen Craig belted his third home run of the series with a solo shot in the third inning.
Now of course all eyes will be on Albert Pujols. He’s going to test the market but I’m still optimistic that he’ll be in a Cardinals uniform in 2012. You wonder how Pujols decision is going to affect Cardinals tickets sales. You figure the earlier they can lock him, the better season ticket sales are going to be.
