Cardinals 9, Phillies 2 (18-18)
The Cardinals won their third straight game over the Philies on Rogers Hornsby Day at Sportsman’s Park. Hornsby didn’t disappoint the hometown crowd and he went two for four in the Cardinals’ win.
Ray Blades and Taylor Douthit both hit homeruns in the seventh inning. Tommy Thevenow went two for two with three runs and Bob O’Farrell scored twice.
Bill Sherdel had a nice start and pitched seven shutout innings to open up the game. He finished the game and gave up two runs on nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
