Cardinals 7, Reds 3 (54-37)
The Cardinals took care of the Reds for their second straight win and six of the seven runs came on a trio of homeruns. Orlando Cepeda belted a two run shot and Bobby Tolan sent one over the fence with nobody on base. The big shot though was a three run homer by Julian Javier to put the Cards on the board in the second inning.
Ray Washburn improved to 5-3 on the season with the win. He gave up three runs on ten hits with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Joe Hoerner threw 3 1/3 shutout innings and he picked up his sixth save of the season.
