Chacon Shuts Down Cards

by @ 1:36 pm. Filed under 2008 Cardinals

Braden Looper struggled in his outing last night, giving up 8 runs and not making it through the 5th inning in the Cardinals’ 8-2 loss to the Astros. Houston starter Shawn Chacon scattered 7 hits over 7 innings and never really found himself in trouble, with the exception of at bats against Albert Pujols. Pujols was 4-4 on the day with a solo home run, but his effort was not nearly enough to put the Cards on top. St. Louis will try to right the ship tonight at 7:15pm (Central time), sending Adam Wainwright (4-2, 3.06 ERA) to the hill against Astros’ lefty Wandy Rodriguez (1-0, 2.31 ERA).
