Cardinals 4, Giants 1 (36-22)
The Cardinals avoided winning back to back games again and the last time they lost two in a row was close to two weeks ago. This time they rode the arm of Dick Hughes, who held the Giants in check. He gave up just one run on four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. The complete game pushed his record to 6-2 on the season.
Orlando Cepeda was the hitting star in the win. He went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs. Roger Maris singled twice and he scored two runs.
