Dick Hughes Pitches Cardinals to Fifth Straight Win

The Cardinals kept on winning despite the games not meaning much after clinching the National League pennant yesterday.  Dick Hughes was impressive though and he improved to 15-6.  He gave up just five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in the complete game shutout.

Ed Spiezio drove in the lone Cardinals run of the game.  Lou Brock was the only hitter to reach base twice with two singles.
