Reds 2, Cardinals 1 (24-16)
A really nice start by Dick Hughes was wasted with a lack of offense in the Cardinals 2-1 loss. He gave up just two runs on three hits and one walk with thirteen strikeouts in eight solid innings. The loss dropped him to 2-2 on the season.
Bobby Tolan accounted for the lone Cardinals run with a solo homerun. Lou Brock singled twice and he was caught stealing twice in the loss.
