Cardinals 3, Dodgers 2 (29-20)
The Cardinals and Dodgers scored all of their runs one inning at a time and while the game did go back and forth, it was the Cardinals who came out on top. Dick Hughes sac. fly in the bottom of the seventh turned out to be the game winner. Hughes also picked up the win with eight solid frames. He gave up two runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Nelson Briles got the final out of the game and he picked up his second save of the season.
Orlando Cepeda went two for four and he belted his seventh homerun of the season. Lou Brock singled and he drove in a run.
