Five Game Winning Streak Ends As Cardinals Hit Hard By Braves

Braves 9, Cardinals 6  (20-12)

Steve Carlton and Nelson Briles were both hit hard in the Cardinals 9-6 loss to the Braves.  Carlton gave up three runs and he didn’t even pitch through the second inning while Briles took the loss and he gave up five runs in just two innings of work.

Lou Brock had a big day at the plate in the loss.  He went two for five with his ninth homerun.  He drove in two, scored three runs and stole his 15th base of the season.  Julian Javier went two for two with two RBIs and a run.
