Grover Alexander Hit Hard, Cardinals Lose to Robins in Ten Innings

July 16, 1926 at Sportsman’s Park
Robins 8, Cardinals 7  (46-40)

The Cardinals came back from a huge three run deficit to send the series finale with the Robins into extra innings only to lose it in the tenth.  Grover Alexander was shelled in his five innings of work but oddly it was Hi Bell, who gave up the run in the tenth, that took the loss.

Billy Southworth and Les Bell led the way with the bats.  They both had two hits and two runs.  Bell stole two bases and Southworth stole one.

    Who are the Robins?

  2. Jeff Matthews Says:

The Robins were the original name for the Dodgers, so it’s Brooklyn’s team in 1926.
