Cardinals 3, Giants 2 (70-44)
Things were looking grim early as Steve Carlton was touched for two unearned runs in the first inning but he was tagged for seven hits in two innings. Jack Lamabe then came in and proceeded to shut down the Giants though and he gave the Cards the chance to come back and win it. He gave up just three hits with six strikeouts and he threw the final seven innings for the Cardinals.
Curt Flood went two for three with a triple, a run and an RBI. Orlando Cepeda singled twice and he drove in two runs.
