News, Notes and Historical Information on the St. Louis Cardinals

I guess I’d rather see this kind of stuff happen now then in September, but the Cardinals are going to be short two outfielders come opening day. The important one is Jim Edmonds who is still recovering from foot and shoulder surgery. Less important but a player none othe less is Juan Encarnacion, who’s out after wrist surgery.
So it looks like for now, Chris Duncan will get the start in left and Scott Spiezio will play right. Centerfield will be a platoon of probably Preston Wilson and So Taguchi but it’ll probably leave room for one of the kids to make the team coming out of camp. Rick Ankiel’s been a name that’s been thrown around so we’ll see what happens.
