Mike Shannon Drives in Three in Cardinals Win Over Mets

Cardinals 7, Mets 5  (15-10)

The Cardinals picked up fifteen hits but they needed a five run eighth inning to beat the Mets.  Mike Shannon was three for five and he drove in three runs.  Roger Maris went three for five with two runs while Lou Brock had three hits, a run, an RBI and his twelth stolen base of the season.

Al Jackson left the game after six innings and he didn’t have the lead.  Nelson Briles picked up the win with two shutout innings and Ron Willis picked up his second save with a shutout ninth.
