Orlando Cepeda was a perfect four for four in the Cardinals win over the Pirates.  He also had a hand in four of the Cardinals six runs with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Roger Maris went yard with a solo shot and Tim McCarver drove in two runs with a single and a triple.

Steve Carlton improved to 2-1 with a nice start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks with nine strikeouts in eight innings.  Joe Hoerner picked up his second save of the season with a shutout ninth.
