Orlando Cepeda belted a two run homer in the sixth inning and while that’s all the Cardinals got in this game, that’s all they’d need.  Cepeda and Curt Flood both finished the game with two hits and it was Roger Maris who scored on the Cepeda homer.

Nelson Briles improved to 7-5 on the season with a nice start.  He gave up one unearned run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.  Joe Hoerner got the final four batters out in succession and he picked up his tenth save of the season.
