The Cardinals won their fourth straight game behind a great outing by Ray Washburn. He held the Dodgers to four hits and a walk with one strikeout in 6 1/3 innings. Nelson Briles got the final batter out to pick up his third save and Joe Hoerner didn’t give up a hit in 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Tim McCarver had two hits and one of them was a solo homerun. Dal Maxvill went two for four with a run in the win.
