Ray Washburn Pitches Cardinals to Third Straight Win

Cardinals 5, Giants 3  (35-21)

The Cardinals continued their impressive June with their third straight win in the series opener with the Giants.  Ray Washburn got it done on the mound and he improved to 3-3 on the season.  He gave up one run on five hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.  Joe Hoerner pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings to close the game out and he picked up his fourth save of the season.

Mike Shannon went one for two with two walks, two RBIs and a run.  Roger Maris went two for three with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI.
