For the second straight game, a Cardinals start threw a two hit shutout. This time it was Ray Washburn who held the Reds to two hits and three walks with five strikeouts and the win was his first of the season.
Like yesterday, Mike Shannon provided the offense. He went singled home the two Cardinals runs with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. Lou Brock singled and he stole his eighth base of the season.
