Reds 4, Cardinals 3 (21-20)
The Reds ended the Cardinals three game winning streak in the first game of their doubleheader after they broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the eighth. Les Bell hit a homerun and Ray Blades went three for five with a run.
Bill Sherdel threw a good game but he took the loss. He gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks.

Reds 2, Cardinals 1 (21-21)
In a complete reversal of their series in St. Louis, the Cardinals and Reds got into another pitcher’s dual in the second game of their doubleheader. Syl Johnson was good, but Red’s starter Carl Mays was even better in the 2-1 loss.
Jim Bottomley tripled and scored the only run of the game for the Cardinals. Rogers Hornsby and Les Bell both had two hits in the game.
