Cardinals 5, Astros 4 (37-22)
The Cardinals and Astros played a fun back and forth game that saw the Cards come out on top for their second straight win. Roger Maris had the big hit in the eleventh inning. He followed Tim McCarver’s one out single with an RBI double to give the Cards the run they needed to win it. Orlando Cepeda continued to hit the ball well and he finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Bob Gibson threw seven solid innings in his start. He gave up three runs on nine hits with three srikeouts. Nelson Briles threw the final 2 2/3 innings and he picked up the win to improve to 3-1 on the season.
