The Cardinals doubled up the Dodgers to win their second straight game to open up the season. Orlando Cepeda and Roger Maris got it done at the plate in the Cardinals eight run attack. Cepeda doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in three while Maris went three for four with an RBI and three runs.
Larry Jaster had a solid outing on the mound. He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts in eight innings of work. Dick Hughes finished the game up and picked up the save despite giving up a run in the ninth inning.
