Rogers Hornsby’s Grand Slam Leads Cardinals to Win Over Pirates

Cardinals 6, Pirates 2  (36-28)

The Cardinals got back on track and player/manager Rogers Hornsby helped out the cause in a huge way.  His grand slam in the seventh inning extended the Cardinals lead to five runs, effectively putting things out of reach for the Cardinals.

Jesse Haines had a really nice outing.  He gave up two runs on five hits with six walks.  Neither side’s pitcher had a strikeout.  Hornsby ended the game with three hits, one of which was the grand slam, and two runs.
