Reds 7, Cardinals 4 (52-37)
The Reds scored runs in only one inning but it was a big one as the Cardinals took their fourth loss in five games. Three different pitchers gave up runs in that inning but it was Jack Lamabe who gave up the game winner. He fell to 0-5 on the season. Carlton gave up three runs in the inning before throwing six shutout frames.
Roger Maris and Orlando Cepeda both hit solo homeruns in the loss. Maris finished the game three for four and Cepeda was three for five.
