Cardinals 7, Giants 5 (6-0)
Tim McCarver got the Cardinals going in their sixth straight win when he hit a three run shot in the first inning. The Cardinals eventually took a 7-2 lead and while the Giants chipped away at, the closest they could get the 7-5 final. Julian Javier also had a big game. He went three for four with a homerun, two runs and two RBIs.
Larry Jaster didn’t have his best start, but he improved to 2-0 on the season. He gave up five runs on nine hits (four of which were homeruns) and he struck out six in 7 1/3 innings. Joe Hoerner pitched the final 1 2/3 and he picked up his first save of the season.
