Tony LaRussa Finishes Third In Manager of the Year

by @ 10:42 am. Filed under 2012 Cardinals

Well, it was his last one and Tony LaRussa came in third place in the Manager of Year voting.  He was only one of three managers to get a first place vote but he was well behind the favorite for the award, Kirk Gibson.  Ron Roenicke of the Brewers came in second place.

I thought with the last season run, LaRussa might get some more votes but everyone had Gibson and the way he turned around the Diamondbacks well out in front.  Gibson picked up 28 first place votes and if he wasn’t in first, he was in second place.  Roenicke was named on 30 of 32 ballots and he picked up three first place votes, 25 second place votes and two third place votes.  The only other manager other then the top three to get a second place vote was Charlie Manuel.
